On Friday, April 20 I watched the movie The Watsons Go To Birmingham with the intervention students. I thought the makers of the movie did a great job depicting the main points in the book. Two scenes were not in the book, but were very powerful in the movie. One scene was when the children were watching the Children's March on TV. This event did not appear in the book but it was very powerful to watch. Another scene is when the Watson children were discussing the events in Birmingham with their cousins. I grew up during those times and it reminded me when my cousins and I use to have discussions about what was going on in the news.
I liked all of the actors that portrayed the roles except Byron. I think that actor looked much older than the character in the book.
This is a great story. I think everyone should read the book and then see the movie.
