Spring Begins - March 20
So what is the spring equinox? An equinox is the moment in time and space when the sun is positioned directly above the Earth’s equator, which happens just twice a year on the vernal and autumnal equinoxes. In March (usually the 20th or 21st), the sun crosses the equator from south to north, bringing warmth and light back to the Northern Hemisphere, and plunging the Southern Hemisphere into its fall and winter darkness.

Character Education
Spring has sprung and the students are more active than ever. This is a good time to remind children of the proper ways to behave in school and really in life. Teaching character traits can be challenging, but picture books are a perfect tool to help your students develop a deeper understanding. Most of your students will be able to identify if a character is kind or mean, but using character traits as a literacy tool is so much more than that. Check out these websites and read alouds .
