Dr. Martin Luther King and Coretta Scott King Memorial
Happy birthday, Dr. King. In 2023 we celebrated the 94th anniversary of the birth of Martin Luther King Jr. The sculpture in the picture was created by African-American artist, Hank Willis Thomas. It was dedicated in Boston on January 13, 2023. The sculpture was inspired by the photo of Dr. King and Coretta Scott King when he learned he had won the Nobel Peace Prize. Remembering...
When I was in school, I remember some of the stories on the news about the civil rights movement. We did not learn about it in school. Then only April 4, 1968 Dr. King was assassinated. Our school, our neighborhood, and our country were in an uproar. As time moved on and I learned more about Dr. King, Coretta Scott King and all of other brave people who fought for our civil rights, I began to appreciate the stories. We need to continue to share these stories with our children. The struggle is not over. (updated 1/05/23)
