Renaming Our School
In 2016, Mr. Johns, the principal, challenged the students to write persuasive papers on changing our school name from George Washington Elementary to Booker T. Washington Elementary School. The students in all grade wrote persuasive essays. These two students during our gifted class in the library created this video. A few months after presenting this video to the Board Members, the students and staff celebrated the name change. (Of course, the following year the school building was closed.)
