The third and fourth graders were on point in October. They spent the month programming in LEGO We.Do 2.0. They created glowing snails, cooling fans, moving satellites and Milo, the Science Rover. The teams collaborated to create the structure and then programmed it to move, change colors and make sounds. The video includes projects by the students in Mrs. Mendoza's and Mrs. Ramirez's classes. You can view the video on the STEAM Lab page.

In September the students explored creating pictures and designs using virtual geoboards. The children used task cards to replicate easy and challenging designs. If you participated in this activity, what part did you like best? Which part of the lessons would you like to change. (Please share comments below.)
If you wish to continue your exploration with geoboards, go to the Geoboard page! Click HERE! Enjoy! Welcome, STEAMers, to a new school year! I have a lot of exciting things planned for this year. Come to this page to learn important information and to leave comments! Have a great school year!
Steamers!
This has been a great year. I have enjoyed the time that we had together. Any thoughts. Answer these questions. 1. What was your favorite time in STEAM? 2. What are your plans for the summer? I will miss you. Have a great summer. There are six simple machines. You use simple machines every day. If you have a camera (or cell phone), take pictures of simple machines you see or use every day. You can also list examples of simple machines in the comment section.
I was very proud of all the students who created programmable projects with Lego blocks. The final project was of the Milo the Rover. This was the most challenging project of all. You can see more videos on my homepage. Click HERE. New adventures for you...WEDO 2.0. With WeDo 2.0, students will explore, create, and share their scientific discoveries as they build, program, and modify projects. Our first project was the Glowing Snail. The students built the snails. Then they programmed the snails to glow different colors and play different sounds.
Our last projects were creating Animal Habitat books. Once the students mastered the Pixie software they were able to create slides for eight animal habitats. Check out the student books (videos) by clicking on the picture above. Please leave comments below.
During the month of February our STEAMers were invited to create inventions that might make life better for the world. Using K'nex kits, they were able to make some wonderful things. Check out some of the inventions in the slide show below. Leave comments in the comment section. Tell which ones you like.
